Why I Left Calvary Chapel
I’ve created a new category for the ongoing needs of people to tell their stories. Of course, if you left CC, we already know that it had something to do with: the mafia, bigfoot, Area 51, Fidel Castro or the lack of real wine at communion. If you want to post about one of these reasons, this is your place. If you have another reason for leaving Calvary Chapel, (other than those listed above), it’s likely that you are unjust and should probably go back and retro-tithe.

Well, I had to leave Calvary because it just wasn’t perfect enough for me, and I found it was shocking and repugnant to hear of human mistakes among the various leaders. Human frailty? Bah! Where do you find that in the New Testiment? Where do you see Paul admonishing church leaders because they weren’t doing things right? No where! He just dismissed and condemned anyone who made mistakes, and more power to him, I say.
I’m sick and tired of people drawing a differentiation between correctable error and damning error. It’s all error in my book. Now, I’ve never personally been responsible for millions of dollars and thousands of people, but I know I would never be tempted to hang on it all too tightly. I would never, for one second, allow my love for my own children to cloud my judgement as to their character. And it would never, ever occur to me to lead people where I thought the Word of God directed unless I had the permission by vote of every member of my congregation.
In essence, Calvary falls short. I haven’t actually found a church that stands up to my standards outside of my own congregation of 15, but I feel confident I will someday stumble upon another example of biblical and human perfection. Until then, everyone else is a cult.
And that is why I left Calvary.

I left Calvary cuase I want to teach the Bible and have a “Light” corona( cuase I am Over weight )once in a while.
Oh yeah becuase I went to cemetary, Got educated, taught at a CC for 3 years and labeled a Calvanist,wolf,anti-hyper spiritual and worship quencher (when I do not raise my hands).
Where is a Bapticostal supposed to go to fellowship? Back to another CC.
The other church’s just dont teach the word!Ya no.Besides if you find the perfect church you should leave becuase you will probably ruin it.

i found that i was becoming a sanctimonious solemn unsmiling iceberg who acted like i was awaiting a vacancy in the trinity. i recognized i was restless in the one dimentional bible study uber alles sin-sniffing legalism of the church. i also began to see the lingo of the church and how it tended to isolate me. it was taking on cult like traits. “don’t be in the world” translated to “don’t be normal just stay in this insulated world and shun all thing non-calvary. i also disliked the instant dismissal of anything that varied from the calvary prototype. the attitude that they’ve “arrived” and all others are to be held at arms length. the anti-catholic attitude is so thick you could spread it on a waffle. to make a miserable story short i converted to orthodoxy and i haven’t been happier. oh yeah i called my priest father. don’t tell anyone.

I am not a preacher I am just a man who loves God and works every day to grow closer to Him through bible studies and praying that God will give me wisdom to understand the meaning of His word in my life. I stumbled across this page from a Google search and that raised some concern with me I hope you don’t mind me sharing some scripture that hits home with me.“The greatest cause of atheism in the world Is Christians who go to church on Sunday and then deny it with their lifestyle”. This was a quote from the group DC Talk that I believe has a lot of truth in it. Christian blog sights and other web sites that Christians have started with good intentions have just become a battle ground for people who will never give into or accept the opinion of the person on the other end. They are causing more damage than they are good. James 4:11-12 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you – who are you to judge your neighbor? A new believer who might be searching for answers on these sights might stumble across these sights especially this being one of the top sights brought up when I typed in Calvary chapel and this might become a stumbling block for them seeing that Christians are fighting like this on the web with each other. 2 Corinthians 6:3 we put no stumbling block in anyone’s path so that our ministry will not be discredited. One of the people on this sight says he has been going to one of these churches for a long time and the preachers have no accountability I am not arguing with this man I haven’t been to his church I don’t know how the preacher acts but remember the scripture tells us everyone will be held accountable for their actions on earth. Romans 14:11-12 It is written “ As surely as I live,” says the Lord “Every knee will bow before me every tongue will confess to God”. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. So wrest in the word of God that he will take care of the unjust. But we do not need to judge one another or to fight like this in the public eye because this will cause people to stumble. Do not let anger take control of you. Ephesians 4:26-27 “In your anger do not sin”. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. And do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that It may benefit those who listen. When you have a problem within the church it should be addressed to the church through the elders and other representatives within the church and it needs to be done with a soft heart and prepared with lots of prayer. When it is done on the internet you are bringing a problem within a church to thousands or even millions of people who already have a hard time believing in God and to see this type of arguing going on between what they call “so called Christians”only fuels their argument about our beliefs. Proverbs 15: 2 the tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. I will close with some scripture from Proverbs 29:6-11 an evil man is snared by his own sin, but a righteous one can sing and be glad. The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. Mockers stir up a city but wise men turn away anger. If a wise man goes to court with a fool, the fool rages and scoffs, and there will be no peace. Bloodthirsty men hate a man of integrity and seek to kill the upright. A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. I hope I haven’t offended anyone and if you want to talk to me just send me a email rpaulgreene@hotmail.com God bless and I hope your problems work out I will be praying for you
